Hot Dog ChiliPrepare chili
In a pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
Add the chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
Stir in the tomato paste, ketchup, chili powder, paprika, mustard powder, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Add water and bring everything to a boil.
Then simmer over low heat for 20-25 minutes until the chili is thick.
Season to taste with salt and pepper. Tip: For more authenticity, let it sit overnight!
Prepare coleslaw
Mix the chopped cabbage and grated carrot in a bowl.
Add the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
Leave to stand in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend. The slaw should be creamy but not too moist.
Make hot dogs
Take a bun and place the sausage inside. First add yellow mustard, then chopped onions, a generous portion of chili, and finally the coleslaw on top. The order is important—traditionally, the slaw comes last to emphasize the contrast!
