Instructions

Hot Dog ChiliPrepare chili

  • In a pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
  • Add the chopped onion and sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
  • Stir in the tomato paste, ketchup, chili powder, paprika, mustard powder, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Add water and bring everything to a boil.
  • Then simmer over low heat for 20-25 minutes until the chili is thick.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper. Tip: For more authenticity, let it sit overnight!

Prepare coleslaw

  • Mix the chopped cabbage and grated carrot in a bowl.
  • Add the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
  • Leave to stand in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend. The slaw should be creamy but not too moist.

Cook hot dogs

  • Cook the sausages in boiling water for 5-7 minutes or grill them until hot.
  • Lightly toast the rolls to make them crispy.

Make hot dogs

  • Take a bun and place the sausage inside. First add yellow mustard, then chopped onions, a generous portion of chili, and finally the coleslaw on top. The order is important—traditionally, the slaw comes last to emphasize the contrast!
